The title "In other words: <_blank>" refers to finding a different way of explaining something ("in other words"), while the term <_blank> is the HTML programming value attributed to a link for opening a new window .
Three artists, three catalogues, one exhibition
“In other words: <_blank>” is the first exhibition by the gallery heliumcowboy artspace in Hamburg that was able to open its doors to visitors in June 2021, following several lockdowns and three postponements. It was conceptualized the year before – already in the face of the difficult situation that has changed all of our lives and has also posed a major challenge to the creative industry.
Melvin Heikhaus – curator of the exhibition and the new sole heliumcowboy gallerist since autumn 2020 – has chosen three important positions from among the artists who have been represented by heliumcowboy for years:
Boris Hoppek, with whom Melvin drew as a small boy, and who taught 9-years-old Melvin how to ride a skateboard in Barcelona;
Jens Rausch, whose first solo show at heliumcowboy in 2017 was also the first exhibition supervised by Melvin alone – who was, at the time, freshly appointed as gallery manager;
and Alex Diamond, without whom there would be no heliumcowboy artspace – and no young gallerist also – and who promised that he would create a very special installation for this show …
The result is a truly special exhibition, documented in these three catalogues, which are combined in a very limited three-book special edition.

Drei Künstler, drei Kataloge, eine Ausstellung
In other words: <_blank> ist die erste Ausstellung in der heliumcowboy artspace Galerie in Hamburg, die nach mehreren Lockdowns und drei Verschiebungen im Juni 2021 endlich wieder mit Besuchern eröffnet werden konnte. Konzipiert wurde sie im Jahr zuvor - damals schon im Angesicht der schwierigen Situation, die unser aller Leben veränderte und auch für die Kulturbranche eine riesige Herausforderung darstellte.
Melvin Heikhaus, der Kurator der Ausstellung und seit Herbst 2020 auch der neue und alleinige Galerist von heliumcowboy, wählte drei wichtige Positionen unter den von der Galerie schon viele Jahre vertretenen Künstlern aus:
Boris Hoppek, mit dem Melvin schon als kleiner Junge zusammen zeichnete und der ihm als 9-jährigem in Barcelona das Skateboardfahren beibrachte;
Jens Rausch, dessen erste Solo-Show bei heliumcowboy 2017 auch die erste von Melvin allein betreute Ausstellung war, damals noch als frisch ernanntem Galeriemanager;
und Alex Diamond, ohne den es den heliumcowboy artspace – und übrigens auch den Jung-Galeristen - gar nicht gäbe und der ihm eine ganz spezielle Installation versprach …
Herausgekommen ist eine wirklich besondere Ausstellung, dokumentiert in drei Katalogen, die einzeln und gebündelt in einer streng limitierten Sonderedition erhältlich sind.
