Our new exhibition addresses the imbalance between men and women in art. In their works, the exhibiting female artists emancipate themselves from the traditions of art history. They refer to the stereotypical role conceptions of society, which still need to be overcome. In this sense, the "Female Gaze" opens up a new perspective on art and its history.
In different facets, the title of the exhibition is reflected in the works shown. The female artists question our ideas and ideals of nature and beauty. The role of women in society and art is subjected to critical analysis especially in the representation of the (own) female body and its environment.
In German, the term "natürlich" is primarily also understood as an expression of affirmation: "Natürlich" women are artists. But how "natural" is this role really?
Together with THE DISTRIQT we look forward to interesting contributions about exciting female artists and their works. We discuss the role of women in the art world and discover new, surprising connections between art and society that you may not have seen before.
